OK, now that our side-by-side comparison is done, let’s dive in and examine eSoft’s real estate photo editing services. 

eSoft Overview

eSoft is a global real estate marketing company with offices in Denmark, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam. They specialize in photo editing, virtual staging, video tours, and other visual real estate marketing support.

Founded in 2000, today they employ over 850 digital photo editors, serving real estate sales professionals in over 30 countries. 

Now with that basic introduction, let’s get our review of eSoft’s real estate photo editing services underway.

Pricing

First, let’s start by taking a look at eSoft’s pricing for their real estate photo editing services. 

The website repeatedly states the company’s commitment to transparent pricing. 

Unfortunately, by transparent, I think they mean invisible because I couldn’t immediately find a pricing list or any pricing information. 

When a company won’t give you pricing information upfront, it raises an eyebrow at best and leads me to think that their pricing might not be competitive.

More importantly, who wants to go down the path of creating an account and placing an order before knowing what it will all cost?

As I will detail below, it took over four days to finally be able to place an order with eSoft. And only at that point, I was able to learn the following about their pricing:

Ordering From eSoft

Next, let’s talk about how the real estate photo editing ordering experience with eSoft went.

1. Placing an Order

One of the first things I noticed about eSoft’s website was that there was no Place an Order button. Nor was there anything about Creating an Account.

Why companies who want you to work with them, make it so hard to do so, is something I’ll never understand. 

After a few clicks and scrolling down quite a bit I finally found the Tell Us About You form, asking for my basic information. 

One of their key questions was how many photos a month I usually need to be edited. 

Right away, this tipped me off that eSoft likely caters to larger, high-volume clients and that they may not be interested in working with me, a smaller, lower-volume client.

In my real estate sales business, I typically average a listing a month, so I’d need 30-40 photos edited at any one time.  

Anyway, I completed the short intake form and received a pop-up message that someone from eSoft would get back to me shortly.

2. Training Chatbots

After completing the form, I waited … and waited.  

Having not heard back from eSoft for almost 10 hours, I reached out again, this time using their live-customer support chat function.

I started to explain that I wanted to place an order for real estate photo editing, and had earlier filled out the intake form, but hadn’t heard back.

However, I quickly realized that I wasn’t talking to a real person, but a chatbot.

And to add to my growing frustration, the bot couldn’t understand what I was asking. 

After 2 more attempts at rewording my question, the bot apologized and told me that it was a new bot and still learning.

I don’t know about you, but I have better things to do with my time than helping train a customer service chatbot.

I then tried calling their customer support phone line but got a recorded message telling me to please fill out the online intake form. 

So, I filled out the form again, hoping I’d soon hear back.

3. Four and a Half Days Later

After a full day of not hearing back from eSoft, I assumed that I must be too small a client for them to want to work with and I moved on, planning on using another real estate photo editing service.

Then, four and half days later, I received an email from eSoft, thanking me for my inquiry and referring me to a different company called Image Life.

Image Life is a spin-off of eSoft that works with smaller, lower-volume clients. 

The fact that it took them over 4 days to refer me to someone else was highly annoying, to say the least. 

Still, I decided to give Image Life a try.

4. Uploading the Photos

Thankfully, it was easy to create an account and upload photos with Image Life. Here’s how it went:

• The image uploading function is built-in to the ordering process — you don’t have to use a different function or third-party site
• My photos – 24 in total, and fairly large — were uploaded in a little over 30 minutes
• Fortunately, there were no uploading failures

5. Turnaround Time

eSoft (Image Life) tells you that they usually deliver your finished photos in 12 hours. You can also opt for a 4-hour rush delivery time, which costs a bit more. 

eSoft  (Image Life) delivered my photos rather quickly, within 12  hours. That’s a fairly decent turnaround time. 

Unfortunately, I would have been more impressed if they hadn’t taken over 4 full days to let me place an order in the first place. 

Well, now having detailed the disaster with customer support and the long delay in the ordering process, let’s turn our attention to the overall results. 

Photo Editing Examples

My real estate photo editing order with eSoft … ah, I mean Image Life … was for 24 HDR photos to be blended into 8 finished images. 

Also, I had a few additional editing instructions, including: 

• Sky replacement on all the exterior shots
• Remove the cars on all exterior images
• Grass greening on one exterior photo 
• Window masking on all interior photos
• For the bathroom photo, remove a small towel

And as you will see, the quality of the work was nothing outstanding, but good.

The HDR blending looked fine.

The sky replacement on my exterior photos was satisfactory, but they replaced my original bland sky, with an equally bland one. 

The interior image editing was fine, although they did crop out part of the shelf on the left of the image, which I was not pleased with.

They seemed to have no trouble removing the hand towel from the bathroom, which I was pleased with.

Revisions

One of the exterior photos had some uneven brown and green grass surrounding the property. So I asked for a revision of greening the grass to make the lawns look more even. 

I went back to my order, selected the photo to revise, explained my revision, and clicked Submit. 

Again, rather quickly, I received my revised photo. Except, there appeared to be no changes or revisions.

Knowing that everyone is human and makes mistakes, I resubmitted my revision a second time, explaining the issue with my first attempt.

It took them a bit longer to get back to me the second time. However, again, there were no changes to the original photo. 

After all the waiting, and after receiving average results — at this point, I simply gave up trying to work with them. 

Can you notice any difference between the original and the revised photo? Me neither. 

Image Quality

In summary, the quality of eSoft’s (Image Life’s) real estate photo editing was average. 

They followed my initial editing requests but botched (twice) the simple revision I asked for. 

Needless to say, waiting over four days for averagely edited photos is not my idea of a quality customer experience. 

As we approach the end of this review, let’s turn our attention to eSoft’s customer support.

As noted earlier, my experience with eSoft’s customer support was painfully slow and frustrating. 

Granted, they do offer multiple contact options, including:

• Telephone support (Non-US)
• Email support
• And Chat

I must note, they do provide telephone and email contact information for some of their executive team. 

But to be honest, I wasn’t inclined to contact a C-level corporate officer to ask about my photo editing order. 

Also, I should note, that eSoft does not offer 24/7 customer service. Instead, they offer 24/6 service hours.

eSoft offers a full, robust range of real estate marketing services:

They also provide custom marketing solutions — including digital marketing campaigns, SEO, and other creative services. Reading about these services, I had to admit they sounded impressive. 

But they only want to work with larger clients, meaning that most real estate photographers, even those with relatively high volume — don’t qualify.

Image Life, their portal for smaller real estate photography clients, currently only offers photo editing services, but is planning on offering virtual staging soon.

If I were to use Image Life for my photo editing, I’d have to turn to other service providers for my other real estate marketing needs — such as single property websites or floor plans. 

Having to split work among different vendors is very inconvenient and often not cost-efficient. 

So, having noted the issue of limited service options, let’s now conclude our review of eSoft’s real estate photo editing services.

Pros and Cons of eSoft

But first, as a quick overview, here are some pros and cons of working with eSoft (Image Life):

Verdict: Can I Recommend eSoft’s Photo Editing?

So, was my experience with eSoft (Image Life) positive enough to recommend their services to others? To answer in a word — no. 

First, unless you’re a large client in need of high volume real estate photo editing, they appear not to be interested in working with you and direct you to their site for smaller clients that don’t offer many services.

And, yes, they are affordable and offer fast turnaround times — but only after extremely long delays getting set up to work with them. 

Further, they failed to provide the simple photo editing revisions I had requested. 

So, here’s a piece of advice — if you want even better quality photo editing, world-class customer support, and a wider range of real estate marketing services, PhotoUp is a better choice.

Ordering From BoxBrownie

To start, it helps that BoxBrownie’s website is well organized, making it straightforward to use.

1. Placing an Order

Placing a photo editing order with BoxBrownie was, at least at the start, quick and easy.

You create an account as you go through the order placement process. They send a confirmation email and once confirmed, you can begin uploading photos.

Next, let’s look at how uploading photos with BoxBrownie works.

2. Uploading the Photos

The uploading function is contained within BoxBrownie’s website, which makes uploading so much easier. No third-party tool or uploading site is needed. 

After experiencing all varieties of difficulties uploading images with several other photo editing service companies, BoxBrownie’s uploading process looked like a welcome relief. 

Unfortunately, I soon realized things were going to be a bit more difficult than I first thought.

Why? Because BoxBrownie doesn’t accept all photo formats and extension types. BoxBrownie only accepts:

• JPEG
• PNG
• GIF
• And PDF

I shoot HDR so my files were all raw DNG files. I start with raw files for quality reasons, because when edited, they produce the sharpest, best results.

3. A Time Delay & Compromised Quality

Converting file types is not as easy as it sounds. Even though I’m fairly tech-savvy for a real estate sales agent, I still was at a disadvantage:

• I don’t have easy access to the technology needed to convert my files
• In fact, it would have taken me several hours if I used any of the free, online conversion software

This significant hurdle and subsequent delay of several hours were extremely annoying and disappointing. 

Under normal circumstances, such an issue could have delayed the posting of my listing by a few days. In real estate, that long of a delay is serious and could hurt the overall sale.

There’s another downside besides the time delay. Jpeg and the other file types tend to yield slightly poorer quality photos. Why?

• These file sizes are small which can compromise the resolution and sharpness
• Advanced editing techniques are not as easy to complete with JPEG files as compared to DNG or other raw file types

On at least one positive note, once I received my converted files, it took less than 5 minutes to upload them to BoxBrownie’s site. 

4. Turnaround Time

BoxBrownie promises a 24-hour turnaround time on standard photo editing jobs and 48 hours for virtually staged images. 

And they quickly delivered my edited photos within 4 hours, which is quite fast. 

By the way, I didn’t see any “rush turnaround” options on their site. 

OK, with the (rather slow) ordering process part of BoxBrownie’s real estate photo editing review now complete, let’s look at how the edited photos turned out.

Photo Editing Examples

When I placed my order with BoxBrownie, I uploaded 12 HDR photos to be blended into 4 final images.

And these were my additional editing instructions for those 4 images:

• Sky replacement on all the exterior shots
• Remove the cars on all exterior images
• Grass greening on one exterior photo 
• Window masking on all interior photos
• Remove a small towel from the bathroom photo

Unfortunately, my instructions were not followed. The cars and the hand towel were not removed.

Except for the inability to follow my instructions on removing the car in the second image, the photos look fine, all the images are clear and sharp. Exposure and HDR blending turned out well.

I liked the sky replacement BoxBrownie did on my exterior photos. However, the grass on the exterior shot was completely removed and replaced with fake-looking, neon colored grass which was a bit shocking and frankly, disappointing.

The interior images turned out alright, although the final edit was quite dark, making me think that white balancing was not done to this image.

There was another quality issue to note. I thought the window masking on this interior photo didn’t turn out that well. I thought the windows looked fuzzy like there was a thin layer of gauze over them.

Again, this room is quite dark and despite clearly asking, the hand towel was not removed from the bathroom. Clearly, the editor did not read any of my instructions.

Revisions

Not being pleased with the window masking, I requested a revision. I asked if the view out the window could be a bit clearer and if the trees might be more easily seen.

BoxBrownie did the revision for free. It turned out well, too. 

Although it took more than 10 hours to get the revision back, longer than the initial editing took.

Image Quality

Overall, the quality of BoxBrownie’s real estate photo editing was good, but they failed to follow all of my directions. This is not a minor issue.

And, there was a slight lack of sharpness in the images, likely due to having to use JPEG files.

With this part of the review completed, it’s time to explore BoxBrownie’s customer support.

This means, if I work with BoxBrownie for real estate photo editing, I’d still have to work with at least another marketing company — which is not just annoying, it’s a waste of time and effort.

Let’s start by saying that BoxBrownie did a solid job editing my real estate photos. 

They offer and deliver high-quality:

• Photo editing
• Customer support
• And fast turnaround times

However, there were still some significant problems with BoxBrownie that I need to point out:

• They accept a limited range of extension photo files
• This limitation can cause long time delays
• And this limitation can easily compromise photo quality
• Also, they failed to follow my instructions

With that said, it’s time to render a verdict — is BoxBrownie worth working with for real estate photo editing? 

Based on all the factors of this review, the answer is a qualified yes. 

My guess is that my editing instructions were overlooked because my order was small. It was likely handled by a lower-level editor. Again, BoxBrownie is a huge company and smaller clients don’t always get the attention they deserve.

Also, if you’re able to keep all your images as JPEGs, you can avoid any file conversion delay. However, using JPEGs will likely result in poorer-quality images.

I think it’s necessary to ask why BoxBrownie limits file extension types in the first place. The answer will certainly raise an eyebrow.

I’ve heard from several sources that BoxBrownie doesn’t have a full-time photo editing team of its own. Instead, they rely on a vast, global network of freelance photo editors.

The JPEGs and smaller-sized file types are required because it makes it easier for BoxBrownie to transfer image files to its freelance editors. 

So, while the customer believes that reputable BoxBrownie is carefully editing their photos, the editing is being done by a random freelancer. 

This raises another question, why bother with BoxBrownie as the middleman?

Further, and more importantly, why not just simply entrust your photo editing to a team of full-time, highly skilled, professional photo editors?

REPAtelier‘s name is really the joining together of two parts — the first is the letters REP, which stands for Real Estate Photo(s). 

The second part – Atelier, is a French word meaning a workshop of professional artists, where masters & assistants, students, & apprentices work together on various art projects.

REPAtelier specializes in real estate photo editing, but they also offer photo editing for a variety of eCommerce companies. 

Their photo editing team is located in the Philippines and they also have offices in the US and UK.

So, with that overview, let’s move on with our review of REPAtelier’s real estate photo editing services.

Pricing

We’ll start with REPAtelier’s pricing for their real estate photo editing services.  They list their prices upfront, so they are easy to find. 

Here is their basic pricing list:

• HDR and minor photo editing — $0.70 — $0.80 per photo
• Flambient editing — $0.90
• Day to dusk — $3.50 per photo
• Virtual staging — $17 per photo
• Object removal and decluttering — $1 — $5 per photo

Overall, their prices are quite reasonable. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any information on bulk discounts.

Ordering From REPAtelier

Now, let’s talk about how to place an order for real estate photo editing with REPAtelier.

1. Placing an Order

Looking through their website, there isn’t a Place an Order button. 

However, I noticed the Client Area in the main navigation, so I went there next. Not only is there no order function but there also isn’t a way to Create an Account. 

You can log in on that page, but you can’t create an account, which is quite odd.

I returned to the home page and saw a button for a free, 3-photo editing trial. So, I clicked on that and arrived at this screen:

I understand when a business wants to know its customers and their needs. But a company can do that while also letting you place an order. 

The reason I came to this website was to get a few real estate photos edited, not have a conversation.

When a company won’t work with me until I tell them all about myself, it makes me feel like they are interviewing me. Maybe I should remind them of who is paying who?

Moving on — with no alternatives, I filled out the Send Us a Message form, which only took a minute. However, when I clicked Submit, nothing happened. 

There was no confirmation, no pop-up message telling me someone would be in touch shortly, just simply nothing. The form didn’t work, or if it did, there was no way for me to tell. 

I scrolled up a bit and found the customer support email, and sent REPAtelier a brief message that I’d like to try their 3-photo free trial.

2. Unfinished Websites & Waiting on Emails

After sending my email to REPAtelier’s customer support, I went back to their website to learn more about their services.

REPAtelier’s website is rather basic and not well designed. Here are some things I noticed:

• First, as mentioned earlier, you can’t place an order or create an account
• There isn’t a customer support chat feature
• Also, the site loads a bit slowly and is “jumpy”
• There are a few unfinished sections with no information
• I found several spelling errors
• Lastly, their photo editing samples were unimpressive

REPAtelier has been in business for a few years, so I’m surprised they don’t have a better-quality website. 

3. Uploading the Photos

Eventually, I received a reply email from REPAtelier about 4 hours later. The customer support representative asked me for a few details and I replied. 

He emailed back quickly (within 20 minutes) and explained the next steps:

• I could use whatever uploading site I wanted – REPAtelier doesn’t have their own
• Once my images were uploaded, I then send another email with the upload link
• REPAtelier would have 2 or 3 of their editors work on my photos and I could select the images I preferred 

It’s a bit annoying not being able to upload my images directly to them. But I have a DropBox account and uploaded my images there and shared the link with REPAtelier.

4. Turnaround Time

REPAtelier has an FAQ section. One of the questions is on turnaround time.

Their turnaround time is 6-16 hours, but they usually deliver your finished photos in 12 hours. 

And yes, Repatelier delivered my photos rather quickly, in just over 10  hours.

Well, now having explained REPAtelier’s ordering process, it’s time to review the photo editing results. 

Photo Editing Examples

My real estate photo editing order free trial with REPAtelier was for 3 images. So, I sent them 9 raw brackets to be blended into 3 HDR photos.

Also, I had a few other editing instructions, including: 

• Sky replacement on the exterior shot
• Window masking on the interior photos
• And for the bathroom photo, please remove a small towel

And as you will see, the quality of the work was actually quite good.

The HDR blending looked fine. And the sky replacement on my exterior photos was good as well, showing nice puffy clouds and a clear blue sky. The verticals were also straightened, which was good to see. 

The living room interior image editing was, again, fine — as was the window masking. However, they did desaturate the exterior view quite a bit, making the colors outside a bit blown out and less saturated.

Revisions

The free photo editing trial doesn’t include the possibility of revisions. And there weren’t any problems or issues with my 3 photos.

Image Quality

In summary, the quality of REPAtelier’s real estate photo editing was nothing spectacular, but decent. 

I couldn’t tell any significant differences in quality from the three edited versions of each photo they sent me. 

In fact, having three photo editors working on a free trial for just a few trial photos seemed excessive. 

REPAtelier’s Support

As noted earlier, my experience with REPAtelier’s customer support got off to a bit of a bumpy start. 

For example, consider these problems:

• There are no order placement functions nor can you create an account
• The website has no customer support chat window
• REPAtelier’s customer support phone number is in the Philippines – there isn’t any US telephone support

You’re limited to their email support, and that was a bit slow. However, I will say that the customer support representative was friendly and efficient once we established contact. 

Also, I should note, REPAtelier’s customer support isn’t 24/7. Their customer support is unavailable each day from 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm, EST. 

Additional Services

As mentioned earlier, REPAtelier’s primary business focus is real estate photo editing. And they also offer virtual staging and 3D virtual tours.

Granted, those tend to be the most commonly used real estate visual marketing services, as well as the ones I most often use. 

Still, there are many other real estate marketing tools and services I frequently need, such as single property websites, property flyers, and floor plans, just to mention a few.  

It’s a definite advantage to be able to use a single vendor like PhotoUp for all my marketing needs. This saves time, effort, and even money.

Having examined the quality of REPAtelier’s real estate photo editing and having also noted their limited service options, let’s now conclude our review.

Well, let’s consider our findings once again:

• It was difficult and time-consuming to place an order
• Their website is somewhat confusing and a bit hard to navigate
• The quality of the real estate photo editing was good, but nothing special

Yes, REPAtelier’s services are cheaper than many others, and yes, the turnaround time was fast — but all the other noted issues outweigh these benefits.

Therefore, I cannot recommend using REPAtelier for real estate photo editing.

If you want the best of both worlds — outstanding customer service and superior quality real estate photo editing, then I’d recommend PhotoUp.

Phixer is a large company. According to its website, Phixer processes over 50,000 real estate images and videos a day from international clients.

Now that we know who they are, let’s go deeper into our review of Phixer’s real estate photo editing services.

Pricing

First, let’s examine Phixer’s pricing for their real estate photo editing services. 

Unfortunately, Phixer doesn’t have its pricing readily available on the website. I had to Google Phixer’s pricing separately and eventually found some information buried toward the end of a blog post.

Here’s what I discovered in terms of an overview of their pricing:

• Basic photo editing services — color enhancement, cropping, and exposure correction — $2 to $5 per image
• High-End Photo Editing – HDR blending, sky replacement, and object removal — $10 to $25 per image

Granted, they do provide a bit more pricing details once you’ve started your order, but again, they don’t provide specific prices. For example:

• It was hard to find any mention of bulk discounts 
• Unfortunately, there are no pricing or service FAQs 
• They do offer a free $30 trial, so that’s good

In my opinion, whenever a company makes it hard to know its pricing before placing an offer, it makes one wonder whether they are trying to hide something. 

Ordering From Phixer

Moving on, let’s take a look at the real estate photo editing ordering experience with Phixer.

To start, it helps that Phixer’s website is well organized, with a minimal look, making it easy to use.

1. Placing an Order

Placing a photo editing order with Phixer was quick and straightforward.

You create an account as you go through the order placement process. All the steps were clear and easy to understand. They also allow you to choose additional editing services by using checkboxes. 

One small, positive feature stood out to me — if you need sky replacements,  they give you a variety to select from, including:

• Clear blue
• Wispy clouds
• Dramatic skies
• And twilight effects

Next, let’s look at how uploading photos with Phixer works.

2. Uploading Images

One of the last steps in the ordering process is uploading your images. And again, a couple of positive features to note:

• The uploading function is built into the ordering process — you don’t have to use a different function or third-party site
• My photos – 24 in total, and fairly large — were uploaded in 16 minutes
• Thankfully, there were no uploading failures

After experiencing difficulty uploading images with several other photo editing service companies, Phixer’s uploading process was a pleasant surprise. 

Overall, placing a photo editing order with Phixer was a positive experience. All right, so what about Phixer’s production turnaround time?

3. Turnaround Time

Phixer allows you to select your turnaround time. They offer the following options:

• 12 hour
• 18 hour 
• 24 hour

Do note that there are additional “rush fees” for the 12 and 18-hour options. Interestingly, the Phixer app allows quicker edits and a quicker turnaround time of up to 8 hours.

Well, now having explained the ordering process, let’s turn our attention to the overall results.

When I placed my order with Phixer, I uploaded 24 HDR photos to be blended into 8 images. 

And these were my additional editing instructions for those 8 images:

• Sky replacement on all the exterior shots
• Remove the cars from all exterior images
• Grass greening on one exterior photo 
• Window masking on all interior photos
• Remove a small towel from the bathroom photo

As you will see, the quality of the work was very good.

The photos are clear and sharp. The car removal was done well, and the exposure and HDR blending look good.

The sky replacement on the front exterior shot was nicely executed, but the sky replacement on the aerial image was a bit oversaturated and lacked clouds, gradient, and overall detail. 

The bathroom image was alright, but a bit too dark for my liking. They did follow my directions to remove the hand towel, which was nice.

The bedroom image was also quite nice, although they did remove some clarity in the window pull, which was a bit disappointing. 

Overall, the image of the nursery was well done, although again I’d like it if the image was a bit brighter.

The living room image was the best/brightest image of all of the interior shots, although the view through the window was washed out yet again… Not ideal. 

Revisions

Phixer delivered my photos within the promised 24-hour turnaround period. 

When I reviewed the photos, I only saw the need for one slight revision — the removal of a storage tank to the left of the patio. 

I requested my revision, and they finished it within an hour, and it looked good.

Image Quality

To summarize, the quality of Phixer’s real estate photo editing was very good, and they followed all of my directions. 

They produced clear, crisp, high-quality edited photos, which is expected from a big photo editing company like Phixer.

Now, let’s turn our attention to Phixer’s customer support.

Phixer’s Support

As noted earlier, my experience with Phixer’s customer support was excellent. For starters, they offer the following contact options:

• US telephone support
• Email support
• And live Chat

Also, I should note that Phixer offers 24/7 customer service on their live chat feature. 

There was an additional pleasant customer support surprise as well. Before I had even finished uploading my photos, a customer account representative called me to welcome me to Phixer and to see if I had any questions. 

If you’ve read some of my previous reviews of other photo editing companies, you’ll quickly see that the ordering and customer support experiences with most other companies left much to be desired.

Refreshingly, Phixer’s ordering process and customer support are quite good. 

Additional Services

As we’re getting ready to conclude this review, allow me to mention one more consideration — one-stop shopping.

It’s really convenient to work with a marketing service provider who can address all my business needs. For example, for my real estate sales, I regularly rely on:

• AI Virtual staging
• Single property websites
• Virtual tours
• And property flyers, too

While Phixer offers real estate photo and video editing, as well as virtual staging, it does not offer some of these other services. 

It’s rare that all I’ll need is just photo editing and not some of the other services as well. 

So, if I needed a single property website or several other marketing support items, I’d have to work with two or more companies, which wastes time and takes extra effort.

One more observation, while the editing work was good, Phixer’s pricing is slightly high — at least more expensive than PhotoUp:

First, we’ll examine Flatworld Solutions’ pricing for real estate photo editing. 

On an initial glance, Flatworld Solutions’ photo editing prices seem straightforward:

• For real estate still image editing, their pricing starts from ¢50 (USD)
• For HDR work, their pricing starts from ¢80 (USD)

They offer a variety of real estate photo editing services but don’t list the prices for these services. Here are a few examples:

• General clutter removal
• Furniture replacement
• Sky enhancements
• Landscaping additions
• And a few others

It’s also important to note that real estate photo editing services are a small part of their larger array of services and therefore, not a dedicated specialty. 

Unfortunately, the site doesn’t detail the prices for the above services, so it’s unclear how much they cost.

Ordering From Flatworld Solutions

Next, let’s talk about the real estate photo editing ordering experience with Flatworld Solutions.

1. Placing an Order

Placing a photo editing order with Flatworld Solutions was simple. There is no requirement to create an account, you simply place your order, and they collect your information then.  

With that said, if you want to place an order, you fill out the short form and use the “upload files” button. 

2. An Unexpected Roadblock – Minimum Order Amounts

The first dropdown item on the order form asks how much are you planning on spending on your order. The options are:

• Under $150
• Over $150
• Larger orders

Given that I only had a handful of photos I needed to be edited, I selected the “Under $150” option.

And that’s when I hit an unexpected roadblock. If you select the “Under $150” option, a message appears telling you they don’t accept orders for less than $150.

If your initial order will cost under $150, they will deduct that amount and retain the rest as a credit on your account. 

So, to place an order, you need to pay at least $150.

3. Kicking the Tires – A Free Trial?

Many real estate photo editing service companies allow real estate sales professionals to sample their work by offering free or discounted services on the first order. 

Flatworld Solutions, however, does not offer a free trial.

I find this annoying at best. They expect you to spend $150 without having any way of assessing the quality of their photo editing.

Thinking that it never hurts to ask, I used the customer service chat function and asked if I could be offered a free trial on just a few photos to see what I thought about the photo editing quality.

The customer service representative told me he’d have to ask his manager, so he collected my contact information and informed me that his manager would get back to me shortly.

Within an hour, I received an email from the manager, reluctantly telling me they would edit a small number of photos as part of a free trial.

4. Uploading the Photos

After reading the manager’s email, I returned to the site to find out how to upload my photos. However, I didn’t find any uploading tool except for the original order form requiring a minimum order of $150.

After searching the website for a few minutes, I went back and emailed the manager asking for instructions. I was told they use WeTransfer, a third-party file uploading service. 

I went to WeTransfer’s page and started uploading 4 sets of HDR bracketed photos, 3 each. Here’s an overview of the uploading process:

• My first upload failed about 12 minutes into the process
• I was successful on my second attempt, which took 16 minutes 

These were my additional editing instructions:

• Sky replacement on the exterior shot 
• Window masking on all interior photos
• Remove a small towel removed from a bathroom photo

5. Turnaround Time

Flatworld Solutions does not appear to commit to a specific turnaround time for photo editing. I didn’t notice any specific information about turnaround time on their website. 

It didn’t really matter, I received the link to download my edited photos in about 18 hours — which is rather quick. 

Well, having explained the hassles with pricing and minimum amounts, let’s turn our attention to the overall results. 

Photo Editing Examples

For my four free images, I selected one external and three interior photos. 

Overall, the quality of the work was slightly above average.

Exposure and HDR blending appear to be fine at first glance. Although on a closer look, the masking on the windows lacked the attention to detail that I was looking for.

Specifically the left side of the middle window where they left a black vertical mark. I also think that view outside of the windows was a bit washed out compared to the darkest exposure I provided. 

I thought they did a nice job of enhancing the green grass in front of the house, but the sky replacement they chose felt too vibrant and unnatural. 

The interior bedroom image editing was okay, but not bright/warm enough for my liking. It felt like they forgot to white balance the image, making it look much too dark and grey as compared to what the room actually looked like. 

Again, the natural colors seem to be washed out in the bathroom, making the image look cold and grey. They did follow my instructions to remove the towel next to the door, which was done well. 

Revisions

Flatworld Solutions’ free trial offer for real estate photo editing didn’t include revisions. 

Image Quality

To summarize, the quality of Flatworld Solutions’ real estate photo editing was slightly better than average and they followed all of my directions. 

Now, let’s turn our attention to Flat World Solutions’ customer support.

My experience with Flatworld Solutions’ customer support was without any issues. My experience included live chat and email and both work well. Additionally, I can note:

• They responded and answered my questions quickly
• All of their messages were clear and made sense

So, noting the above, I have no complaints about my customer support experience with Flatworld Solutions.

Additional Services

Before I conclude this review, I wanted to mention Flatworld Solutions’ other real estate marketing services. 

However, photo and video editing are all they offer. 

Therefore, there’s no benefit to being able to address all of my marketing needs in one place through one vendor. 

One-stop-shopping for marketing service saves time and effort. For example, for my real estate sales, I regularly need:

• AI Virtual staging
• Single property websites
• Virtual house tours
• And property flyers, too

Flatworld Solutions offers real estate photo editing but does not offer these other services. 

So, I would have to work with another vendor on the same batch of listing photos to secure the full range of services I need — which wastes time and takes extra effort.

Verdict: Can I Recommend Flatworld Solutions Real Estate Photo Editing Services?

My overall experience with Flatworld Solutions was average and negatively affected by their high minimum order amount. 

Even though editing 4 HDR images would only cost $1.60 per image and a total of $6.40, your order still has to be a minimum of $150.

But they did let me test their services by giving me a free trial for a few photos. Here are a few other observations:

• Uploading my photos was fairly easy
• Their prices for photo editing are affordable, but unfortunately, they won’t accept orders costing less than $150 — an amount many real estate agents won’t want to spend
• The quality of their photo editing was better than average
• Limited services — other than photo editing, they don’t offer any other real estate marketing services

Therefore, based on the above, I cannot recommend working with Flatworld Solutions for your real estate photo editing needs.

According to their website, they work mostly with product photography and portraits.

OK, now let’s dive into our review of Color Experts’ real estate photo editing.

Pricing

First, we’ll examine Color Experts’ pricing for real estate photo editing. Unfortunately, determining the pricing for Color Expert’s services isn’t easy:

• The price list is extremely varied and includes an assortment of photography types and industries
• They do have prices for portraits, eCommerce product photos, photo restoration, and many other photography areas
• Real estate photo editing services, however, are not part of this initial menu, so to locate those prices, you need to dig around a bit on the site

Unfortunately, even when you find the real estate photo editing price list, it’s still not clear what the exact prices are since they don’t describe their services that well. 

Ordering From Color Experts

Now let’s talk about the real estate photo editing ordering experience.

1. Placing an Order

Placing a photo editing order with Color Experts was straightforward. They don’t require an account, you simply place your order.  However:

• Their website is a bit bland and doesn’t offer pertinent information on the homepage
• For example, there is no mention of real estate photo editing on the homepage
• The site is also rather generic and talks mostly about image processing

As mentioned, real estate photo editing is not a large part of Color Experts BD’s work. Rather, they specialize mostly in product photography for eCommerce sites. 

With that said, if you want to place an order, you click on the “upload files” button.

2. Uploading Images

Color Experts BD offers two ways to upload photos for editing. The first is a service called “Hightail” and the second is their “FTP” server. 

They recommend Hightail if your file size is less than 500GB. I had 24 HDR images to upload — less than 500GB in size — so I selected Hightail.

The uploading service was initially easy enough to use, however: 

• After 9 or so minutes of uploading, I received an error message. So, I made sure I didn’t make a mistake somewhere and uploaded the photos all over again
• My second attempt also failed around 11 minutes into uploading

These sorts of errors are extremely frustrating and time consuming.

The upload instructions also said you could try zipping the photo files and uploading them that way. So I zipped them and tried again. 

Unfortunately, the third time was not a charm, and I received the same error message.

I had no other choice except to use their FTP server to upload. To use this option, you first need to email them and ask for user credentials. And that’s what I did.

About an hour later, I received the credentials and uploaded my files. Thankfully, the FTP server was relatively fast and easy to use.

In total, I uploaded 24 HDR images to be blended into 8 photos that would then require some editing. 

These were my additional editing instructions:

• Sky replacement on all exterior shots 
• Window masking on all interior photos
• Remove the cars from all exterior aerial shots
• And a small towel removed from a bathroom photo

3. Pricing Surprises

When you go to Color Experts BD’s photo editing pricing menu, you are given a large assortment of services and their costs. 

However, none of the services were what I needed for my listing photos.

After searching around further, I finally found a real estate photo editing section. Again, the price and service list was not like other service companies I’ve used before. 

Also, the prices seemed strangely high — such as $14.99 for green grass on an exterior photo. 

Unable to tell how much my order was going to cost, I figured the best way forward was to use the message feature on the upload window to explain what editing I needed and inquire about the cost.

After submitting the message:

• I waited nearly an hour, and still no response
• So, I tried emailing them instead and repeated my editing instructions as well as inquiring about pricing

About 45 minutes later I received the email response. My order total was:

• $10.45 per photo for standard edits
• $3.00 per photo for additional services such as sky replacement
• And a 3% business surcharge — with no explanation

After adding all charges, I realized that my 8 photos and edits were going to be around $110 for simple HDR editing. When you compare that cost to 10 credits or $14 for the same number of HDR images with PhotoUp, you see that it’s a huge difference.

At this point, I started rethinking my order and choice of Color Experts. 

But before I pulled the plug on my order, I looked to see if there were any free trials or special offers for first orders.

And sure enough, there were.

4. A Free Trial

Many real estate photo editing service companies allow real estate sales professionals to sample their work by offering free or discounted services on the first order. 

Color Experts BD also offers a free trial for photo editing, so I decided to look into it. 

Unfortunately, their free trial is for basic photo editing of 2 images only. While 2 images are not much of a free trial, I decided to at least see the quality of their editing. 

5. Turnaround Time

In their FAQs section, Color Experts BD does not commit to a specific turnaround time for photo editing.  Production time is determined by the level and complexity of the requested edits.

I received my 2 basic edited trial photos back within 24 hours. So, having explained the ordering headaches, let’s look at the results. 

Photo Editing Examples

For my two free images, I selected one external and one interior photo. And the quality of the editing work was average. 

Example 1. HDR Blending of Exterior Image

I found the glare and exposure level on the exterior photo to be somewhat off, washing out the color of the house.

The vibrancy was also turned up a bit too high for my liking and they also washed out the color of the house, making it look white instead of the beige color that it actually was.

That said, I did like the enhancement to the grass and the sky replacement was done well, although the dark blue sky was also quite a bit oversaturated. 

Example 2. HDR Blending of Interior Image

The interior image editing was fine, but nothing special. They did a standard job with the white balance and made sure to mask in the window views from the darkest exposure, which was nice.

That said, this type of edit would not be worth $10+. All in all, you can clearly see that real estate photo editing isn’t their strongest area of knowledge or expertise. 

Revisions

Given the less than acceptable results, I needed one revision — adjusting the lighting and exposure level on the exterior photo.

Color Experts BD’s free trial offer for photo editing said nothing about revisions, but I thought it couldn’t hurt to ask. They accepted my revision and turned it around in about 12 hours.  

On a positive note, the revised image looked somewhat better. 

Image Quality

To summarize, the quality of Color Experts’ real estate photo editing was average to subpar:

• The exterior image had slight exposure problems
• The interior image was simply average in quality 

For all the effort I put into placing the order, the results were less than encouraging.
