PhotoAndVideoEdits (PVE) is a US-based, global online real estate photo and video editing company in business since 2005.  

According to their website, they work mostly with English-speaking real estate photographers and real estate sales professionals in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.

Their work is primarily photo and video editing. Their services include:

• Video post-production services 
• Line straightening
• Sky replacement and lawn greening
• Object removal
• Color and exposure enhancements
• And window masking

Photo Editing Pricing

Now, let’s take a look at their pricing for real estate photo editing.

Like PhotoUp, PhotoAndVideoEdits uses a credit purchase system for payments. Here’s a rundown of credit costs:

• For monthly plan subscribers, a credit is $1
• For non-subscribers, a credit is $1.50

However, the minimum credit purchase is 200 credits! That’s a big up-front cost that many real estate sales agents and independent photographers would be uncomfortable making. 

Most real estate listings contain under 50 photos, with 20-30 likely being the average for residential sales. And many agents average 1 to 2 listings a month. 

Therefore, a monthly plan of 200 credits is way more than needed by the average real estate salesperson. 

One credit purchases most of their standard photo editing services, including:

• HDR blending
• Image corrections
• Color enhancements
• Vertical line straightening
• And object removal

Ordering From PVE

Here is where our review of PhotoAndVideoEdits gets quite interesting. Their website isn’t fancy. In fact, it’s pretty awful. 

The site is structured badly, confusing to use, and extremely wordy. Even more concerning, there is no Place An Order function in the main navigation. No button, no heading — nothing.

When you go to their site, you’re asked to enter how many credits you want to purchase. There’s no mention of placing an order. 

And given the minimum credit purchase of 200 credits, most potential customers are going to be reluctant to make that large commitment upfront. 

With this explained, let’s continue our review of PhotoAndVideoEdits and see how my attempt at placing an order went.

1. Creating an Account

As part of our review, we find that PhotoAndVideoEdits requires anyone wanting photo editing services to create a free account:

• This step was extremely easy and took less than a minute 
• And even better, new users are given 20 free credits

However, to claim your 20 free credits you need to first validate your email address and then receive a code to enter in a pop-up window on the page. The code is texted to your phone.

I followed the instructions and waited for an email with the validation link. And I waited for nearly 20 minutes.

Finally, the email arrived, I clicked the validation link and then waited for my text. The text, too, also took quite a while to arrive.

Once it arrived and I entered the code in the pop-up window, I received an error message. By now, the process was proving frustrating. 

When you first don’t succeed, try again. And that’s what I did:

• I had the validation email resent (again taking nearly 20 minutes) followed by the texted code to my phone
• And once again, it didn’t work and I received the same error message

2. Resorting to Chat Support

Thankfully, PhotoAndVideoEdits’ website has a customer support chat function. 

After two error messages and not being able to find a way to place an offer on the site, reaching out for answers on chat was my only option. 

The customer support person was extremely helpful. I explained my ordering problem and he took a minute or two to research the issue. 

He quickly replied telling me that the pop-up credit claim function wasn’t working properly, so he reset it for me. 

I entered the code once again, and this time it worked.

3. Hiding the Ordering Function

After entering the code, the pop-up window closed, and I saw my free 20 credits. But what I still didn’t see is where or how to place an order.

Before going into real estate sales, I worked in online marketing and eCommerce for almost 20 years. I know my way around a website. 

So, once again, I had to use chat to ask how I could place an order. And once again, the customer support representative was extremely helpful and showed me where the place an order function was hidden. 

4. Uploading Images

Before you upload the images, you are asked to use a scroll-down function to indicate how many photos and how many sets are in your order: 

• I had 24 HDR images that would go into sets of 3 images each
• A total of 8 finished photos

I scrolled down to select sets of 3, only to keep having it default to sets of 2 images. Almost ready to give up, I left it at sets of 2 and figured we could fix this later on.

My 24 images were relatively standard size. 

However, it took an hour and 12 minutes to upload the photos. 

When the photos finally finished uploading, I searched around, but couldn’t find where to enter my editing instructions. 

So, one more time, I reached out through chat and the friendly customer service representative took my instructions and manually entered them. 

In case you are keeping track, we are now almost an hour and forty-five minutes into the ordering process. 

With the order now placed, and relieved for the process to be over, another email from the company arrives. The email informs me that I need to log back onto the site and use chat to clarify how many photos per set I want. 

I did as I was told, the customer service representative made the set corrections for me, and I was all set. 

5. Turnaround Time

The painfully long ordering process was somewhat compensated by how quickly they edited my images.

PhotoAndVideoEdits promises a 24-hour turnaround. I received my edited images in just under 14 hours. 

I requested one revision, the removal of a storage tank from the back of the house. The revision took less than an hour. 

Next, let’s continue our review of PhotoAndVideoEdits and look at the results. 

Photo Editing Examples

As earlier mentioned, I had asked PhotoAndVideoEdits for 24 HDR real estate photo exposures to be blended into 8 final photos.

These were my additional editing instructions:

• Window masking on all interior photos
• The cars to be removed from an exterior aerial shot 
• A small towel removed from a bathroom photo
• And sky replacement on all exterior shots 

Despite the ordering nightmare, the edited photos looked great. And thankfully, all of my photo editing requests were followed. They even greened the grass for me without me asking.

Both the HDR blending and sky replacement came out good.

Example 2. Window Masking

My initial photos had too much glare from the windows — they performed the window masking nicely.

Example 3. Towel Removal

I had also asked them to remove the hand towel in the bathroom photo, and they did a fine job.

Additionally, I asked PhotoAndVideoEdits to remove the cars from this aerial image and the photo turned out well, with all cars removed.

I also like how vibrant the photo came out compared to the original photo.

Nice job! Their photo editing work was good.

Revisions

However, I needed one revision, so let’s see how it came out next.

I was surprised how quickly they returned my revision request, and again, they did a good job with this, too!

Image Quality

Overall, the quality of their real estate photo editing was quite good. They followed my instructions and the editing results were excellent:

• The item removals were good 
• Well done on the window masking 
• And the sky replacement was fine
• Also, the 1 revision was nicely and quickly done

PVE Support

My experience with PhotoAndVIdeoEdits’ customer support was fine. Yes, their website is a mess, but fortunately, the customer support representative on chat was quick, friendly, and fixed all my issues.

Obviously, they absolutely need to make some badly overdue updates and revisions to their site to improve the user experience.

I’d guess they are losing many potential customers from their complicated and time-consuming order process and unclear website.  

Additional Services

Before we conclude our review, I want to raise the issue of having a single service provider who can address all of my marketing needs.

There is much to be said for the benefits of one-stop-shopping — saving time and effort.

Photo editing services are fairly basic, but I also routinely need:

• AI Virtual staging
• Single property websites
• Virtual house tours
• And property flyers, too

And while PVE did a solid job editing my photos, they don’t offer any of these other services. 

Having pointed out the lack of this benefit, let’s wrap up, giving a final, high-level overview of our experience.

Pros and Cons of PVE

To give you a quick overview, here are some pros and cons of PhotoAndVideoEdits:

Verdict: Is PVE’s Real Estate Photo Editing Worth It?

Yes, the ordering and uploading experience was a disaster. But once I got through that, the photo editing results were good, and not that expensive, either. 

Also, the turnaround time, once they received the photos, was impressive.

If PhotoAndVideoEdits could straighten out their website and ordering process, they’d be fine to work with for basic photo editing. 

However, they still don’t offer other services that most real estate professionals rely upon, so, in the balance, I really can’t recommend working with PVE.
